Machu Picchu, Peru

The first thing that strikes you about Machu Picchu is the size. The view of the buildings in the foreground of the iconic mountain is not a surprise – everybody has seen that image of Peru’s most famous landmark dozens of times. But the result of that angle being so popular for photography is that you rarely see the site from other perspectives. Finally, standing here myself, I can see the entire complex and am amazed at what lies before me.
